Lake Level Update 9/5/2022

Paul Myers, Lake Level Committee

Today is Labor Day, which in a way ends the summer this far north.  Hopefully, we will still have many nice days ahead!

The summer of 2022 has been a wet one, especially when compared to 2021. In the time frame of May through August 2022 we had 17.75 inches of rain which is 9.9 inches above 2021 and 2.36 inches above the Bigfork/Marcell long term rainfall average for the same time period. It has been a wet spring and summer!

Even with the excessive moisture, the lake hovered in the mid lake level range most of the summer due to the fact that there was no beaver activity at the three dam sites, allowing a strong outflow. However recently that has changed. After almost 2 years of little activity, the beavers have begun doing their thing in the river, so we have been working to keep the water flowing! We will monitor the situation and keep you posted.
