Lake Level Update 5/17/2022

Paul Myers, Lake Level Committee

Open water season has returned to Turtle Lake and we want to alert everyone to the fact that there is a lot of open water this spring. The melting of the heavy snowpack coupled with heavy spring rains has left us with some of the highest spring water levels seen in quite awhile. However, if you have seen any of the news reports, high water is a problem all over northern MN.

The good news is that there was little beaver activity over the winter, so the Turtle River is flowing fast carrying water out of Turtle Lake and the surrounding watershed as fast as it enters. If Mother Nature cooperates, the water level should start to drop soon. Please keep this in mind while setting docks and boat lifts.

Welcome back and enjoy the "Summer of 22."
