Results of 2020 Aquatic Plant and AIS Survey

In August 2020, Blue Water Scientific conducted a point intercept survey, meander survey, and public access survey of Turtle Lake.

The survey observed above average water quality for Turtle Lake and excellent diversity of native plants, with over 28 species found. A diverse native aquatic plant population will help sustain good water quality in the long term.

Rusty crayfish, a regional non-native species (native to the Ohio River basin) was observed in this survey and was first recorded in Turtle Lake in 2018.

No aquatic invasive aquatic plant species were observed in the point intercept survey. Also, no starry stonewort and no zebra mussels were found.
