Lake Level

The lake level reading on June 1st was 1351.66 ft. Although this is within the greater management range of 1351.0 to 1351.8 ft, it is still 0.26 ft (3.12 in) above the top of the "ideal" range of 1351.0 - 1351.4 ft established by the MNDNR. DNR analysis has determined the "ideal" range to be the healthiest level for Turtle Lake and its wildlife.

The dam was trimmed June 1st to allow approximately 3 inches of water flow.

We will attempt to manage to the top of the DNR designated "ideal" range (1351.4 ft) give or take a few inches. We say "attempt" because both beavers and Mother Nature are strong influencers that we need to consider.

There is a wide range of differing lake level preferences among our property owners. Please remember, we attempt to do what's best for the ecology of the lake and wildlife as determined by DNR specialists who have studied the lake we all enjoy.
